Meet Calvin Dodson, BMin

Founder of The66Voice Ministries
I’m Calvin Dodson — known online as The 66 Voice — and if my life proves anything, it’s this:
Broken doesn’t mean finished.
I’ve walked through places most people only hear about. Addiction. Homelessness. Prison. Chronic pain. Two hip replacements. And two life‑threatening cancers — first throat cancer that took my natural voice, then lung cancer that took part of my left lung.
And here’s the part most people don’t expect:
All of this medical happened after God got me sober — just months before I turned 50.
But even after all that, I’m still here. Not because I’m strong — but because God is.
Today, I speak through a prosthetic voice device, but the message behind it comes from a much deeper place. It comes from lived experience, hard truth, and the kind of grace you only discover when you’ve run out of your own strength.
A Sobriety Only God Could Do
I didn’t get sober because I finally figured it out. I didn’t get sober because I had willpower. Truth is — I couldn’t get sober.
I tried. I relapsed. I failed. Again and again.
My turning point came when I prayed the most honest prayer of my life:
“God, I can’t do this. I need help.”
And He did what I couldn’t. He broke chains I couldn’t break. He lifted me out of a pit I couldn’t climb out of. He rebuilt a life I had destroyed.
So, when I say I’m sober, I say it with gratitude, not pride. God got me sober — and He gets the glory.
Life After Sobriety — The Part Nobody Talks About
Some people think that once you get sober, life suddenly becomes easy. Let me tell you the truth:
I got sober — and then life hit harder than ever.
Both of my hips had to be replaced. Throat cancer took my natural voice. Lung cancer took part of my left lung. And all of this happened right after I turned 50.
Sobriety didn’t remove the storms. But it gave me the strength — and the clarity — to face them.
And through every surgery, every diagnosis, every setback, every moment I thought, “Lord, I can’t take another hit,” God pulled me through.
Sobriety doesn’t guarantee easy days. But it does guarantee this:
You won’t face those days alone.
God didn’t just save me from addiction — He carried me through everything that came after.
A Calling That Came Later in Life
I hold a Bachelor of Ministry (BMin), but I didn’t earn it in my youth. I earned it in mid‑life, after God pulled me out of addiction — proof that it’s never too late for Him to rebuild a life, redirect a calling, or breathe purpose into someone the world counted out.
My real education started long before the classroom. It started:
- on the streets,
- in recovery rooms,
- in hospital beds,
- and in the quiet moments where faith and doubt fought for the same space.
Everything I write comes from both study and survival.
I’m not a polished man — I’m a rebuilt one. And everything I share comes from the grace that rebuilt me.
What The66Voice Is All About
The heart behind The66Voice is simple: bringing the truth of all 66 books of Scripture into real, raw, everyday life.
This is a place where:
- questions are allowed,
- healing is messy,
- honesty is welcome,
- and hope is rebuilt one step at a time.
My mission is to:
- encourage the addicted
- comfort the weary
- inspire the broken
- and remind people that grace is real — and it’s for you.
This ministry isn’t performance. It’s not polished. It’s not perfect. It’s a rebuilt man sharing the grace that rebuilt him.
Giving Back Is Part of the Calling
Half of all proceeds from my books go toward helping people walking the same road I once traveled. Not because it looks good — but because giving back is part of my healing.
A Rebuilt Life With a Real Purpose
With a rebuilt body, a mechanical voice, and a past full of mistakes — including surviving throat cancer and lung cancer — I live every day with gratitude and humility. I’m living proof that God can take what’s left of a life and turn it into something that helps others stand, breathe, and believe again.
