đ The Holiday Drama: You Never Knew What to Expect
The holidays were supposed to be about joy, peace, and togetherness. Yet for many of us, they carried a shadowâthe drama you never saw coming. One moment, laughter filled the room. The next, tension cut through the air like a knife.
It wasnât always about big things. Sometimes it was the smallest spark:
- A misunderstood word at the dinner table.
- Old wounds resurfacing when family gathered.
- Expectations clashing with reality.
And suddenly, the season of âpeace on earthâ felt more like walking through a minefield.
But hereâs the truth Iâve learned: I donât miss the holiday drama. I donât miss the unpredictability, the emotional rollercoaster, or the way it stole the joy from what should have been sacred moments.
Instead, Iâve found peace in simplicity. Quiet mornings. Honest conversations. Choosing presence over performance. The holidays donât have to be perfectâthey just have to be real.
So this year, I celebrate freedom from the drama. I celebrate the gift of peace that Christ offers, a peace that doesnât depend on who shows up at the table or what words are spoken.
âPeace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.â â John 14:27
The holidays will always carry surprises. But now, I welcome the unexpected with gratitude instead of fear. Because when the drama fades, the miracle remains.
